Cycle News Online: “The four major Japanese manufacturers will present their vision of motorcycling’s future when the 39th Tokyo Motor Show opens to the public this Saturday.

The world’s motoring press will get a peek behind the curtain on Wednesday, and there is a buzz already on some of the surprises awaiting the show’s visitors…

Honda are tipped to launch the world’s first large-displacement scooter after teasing visitors at the two previous Tokyo Motor Shows with large-displacement concept scooters. Code named E4-01, little is known except that it has a 903cc four-cylinder engine and a sleek yet large trunk capable of holding two full-size helmets.”

    This doesn’t make any sense.

If the E4 is simply a bigger-engined scoot [not hybrid or electric] then it is essentually a Silver Wing with a 900cc engine.

Why is this a good idea? The Griffon 750 flat-four was cool looking, different, and interesting. Why would I trade my 600cc SWing for a 900cc SWing?

    What a rip.

    And what about this:
    HONDA’S AUTOMATIC MOTORCYCLE

    http://www.motorcyclenews.com/nav?page=motorcyclenews.articles.articleCategory.article&resourceId=3468247&articleCategory=NEWS_NEW-BIKES

“Honda has launched a fully automatic concept bike at the Tokyo motorcycle show, which it promises will make it to full production… based around the Deauville v-twin 680cc engine… Honda has said that it aims to put the bike on sale in the near future.”

They said that the Griffon was a “near future production” scoot. So who knows if either of these concepts will see the light of day. But I would buy this 680cc Auto before I bought a 900cc scoot.

A 900cc scoot that looks esentually the same as the current crop of 250cc, 400cc, and 600cc scoots is lame.
