Just up on ebay is a cherry Honda Motocompo!
As some of you may know, Steve is seriously infatuated with this rare little import scooter from Honda. This one just popped up on ebay yesterday and it has Steve written all over it.
The seller has 100% positive feedback and is located in the heart of the US in Galena, Illinois.
Steve REALLY needs this bike so be sure to post a comment to encourage him and let him know that by buying this scooter he is doing the right thing and certainly his sweet wife would never be upset with him for buying this serious collectors item!
***UPDATE 9/15/2009***
Just wanted to answer a few questions and comments on the Motocompo.
Q: Is there video of how the Motocompo fits into a Honda City?
A: Not that I’ve seen. I did, however, catch the two of them in a creepy music video. I can show you an image of the Motocompo inside of a City though.
Q: Was the Motocompo Honda’s smallest folding scooter?
A: No, although it never went into production this baby from 2001 was smaller.
Q: Can the Motocompo catch air?
A: Watch and see for yourself.
Q: Where can I find an affordable Motocompo in like-new condition?
A: I’m thinking HERE or HERE.

Precisely, I can totally see Bryce Lynch from Max Headroom riding one of these through the skanky part of town.

"Motocompo" key word in Japanese yahoo auction,
10. September 2009 at 1:22 pm
Yeah Aki, I would assume that Japan is covered up with those neat little bikes. I wonder if you could turn a profit by buying up a container full of those, ship it over and sell them here in the US?

I would actually drive to Illinois to pick this thing up. I doubt the reserve would be less than $1200 for that gem… probably closer to $2000 if he actually had the title (not that it would stop me from riding).

It was hard but I took a longer look at "it", It looks like a caveman's Yamaha C3. :)
10. September 2009 at 5:54 pm
Haha… did you get "tha jibblies"?
http://www.hrwiki.org/wiki/Jibblies
from looking at it too long?
I've been daydreaming about making a scooter even smaller and lighter, but capable of doing 45mph. I'm thinking carbon fiber and EVO 50GX engine.
Not this small: http://www.scorchinscooters.com/gobike.htm
but, not too much bigger either.

Maybe a Saito FA450R3D?
http://www.elysalento.com/popup_image.php/pID/1474
That's a 75cc 4-stroke rotary the makes 5.5 HP.

You can see that they are actually pretty scrappy on the road.

Go for it, Steve! I've been fascinated with Motocompos ever since I saw the wild Compo chase at the beginning of the anime series "You're Under Arrest!"

Whew! $1525 and reserve not met yet. Still 3 days on the auction. I'm still watching (and waiting to win the pick 3 lottery).

Hey, Steve, there's another one!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150374401768
This seller is willing to crate and ship, too.
This compo is close to where I live right now, so I went ahead and met the $1500 reserve. I'm not willing to go much higher myself, so I thought I'd give you a shot. It seems the seller makes a habit of importing classic JDM bikes, and decided to start using motocompos as packing material!

Congrats to GenWayLaid for actually scoring one of these gems! He says he'll try to share some Motocompo goodness with us this winter. JOY!
