Learning from other’s mistakes – Road Rash

I know it’s hot as a 2-dollar pistol out there this summer. It’s 99 degrees here in Austin today. It was 121 degrees last week in Death Valley and felt about that hot in Orlando last week with added humidity making it unbearable at Universal Studios in shorts, sandals and a guayabera.

I couldn’t imagine waiting in the Shrek 4D line in a full-face, jacket, gloves, pants and boots. How could I possibly make it all around town in that get-up? Well, I personally manage to do it in at LEAST helmet and gloves. I wear a jacket (with reflector vest) about 90% of the time even though it’s hot and nerdy.

Well, Pete sent me an interesting article that may help me reach 100%. What we have is a PDF of an article from Motorcycle Consumer News that tells the tale of Patricia Wilson. In it Patricia describes the hell that is road rash… what happened and how long it took to recover. It makes even standing in the Shrek 4D line fully outfitted sound like a day at the beach.

So… if you see me around town this summer looking sweaty and WAY over outfitted… it’s Patricia’s fault. ; )
