(Be sure to check out the September Archives to read TheScooterScoop review of the Morphous!)
The Maxam is COMING TO AMERICA! As… The Yamaha Morphous.
This is something I’ve been really excited about seeing in America. It’s basically the Honda Helix replacement. Honda hasn’t updated it’s low-slung scooter since 1986. I know… I’ve got a 1986. Here’s what the press has to say:
“Scooters also fall into the Sport category. New for 2006 is a behemoth called the Morphous (above). At 93.3 inches long, this is one scooter that’s going to take up a bit of garage space.
Typical for scooters, the Morphous is driven by a fully automatic V-belt transmission. It’s powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single. That long wheelbase means there’s voluminous storage under the seat and in a trunk behind the seat.
MSRP: $5,199 (available in September)”

Ahahaha… You got me Casey. I did say I would “Trade Up” if this thing ever came to the US… and believe me… I WANT TO. But it’s nearly TRIPLE the price I paid for my used Helix. It would take an AWEFUL lot of ebaying, craigslisting, and begging to move up to this baby. Don’t count me out… But I doubt I’m getting one for my birthday in September.

Just bought a 2007 Morphous and I love it. Got 66 mpg on first tank. It is so fun to ride around town and yet handles the highways more than comfortably! My husband was really surprised that it cruised right along at 70 or so on a short road trip last week! By the way, I also have a Honda Silver Wing…thinking about another Morphous!
