“The old Runner is still a good scooter but it is starting to look a little dated. With the launch of the new style Runner Gilera has managed to keep the essence of the original Runner but given it much more of an edge.”

That is a very stylish rig. Sharp. I’m partial to my flat floor area but many of these modern scoots are building in that center hump. It is a great place to put a fuel tank which many seem to do, since it gets the weight down low. My Phantom carries its fuel high in the tail and a very limited amount at that.
There is a PGO 125 parked across the street from my building. THat scoot has electronic fuel injection! Dang! Very cool. It looks pretty similar to this Gilera.

The new Gilera Runner has landed in Malaysia recently. I have been aiming for Gilera Runner for a while since the introduction of 2 stroke SP180 here but after hearing about unrealibility of that machine I hold on to the though. Bought Suzuki VR125 instead. Cheeky and nippy machine to twist & go around traffic snarl Kuala Lumpur. I got bored after a while. Decided to move to Italian machine. The new Gilera was about to arrive, but after I take a look at the picture and the specs on their website, I was dissapointed. It is more on the design which looks more like mushrooming Taiwan made scooter. I does not has the uniqueness like the previous VXR model. Waste no time I grab the last few unit available. I test rode the new model recently and frankly I have no regret for buying the VXR200 although the new model seems to have better pickup and stiffer handling while cornering. It’s slightly lower than the previous model. Price is much higher and that is one of the reason that only few units available on the road here now.
