The Welwyn & Hatfield Times – part of Herts24: “MOTORBIKE and scooter thieves are on the loose.
Three bikes were stolen from gardens over three days in Ware this month.
The first, a black Gilera, was taken from a back garden in River Street between 9am on September 7 and 11.15am on September 9.
A black and yellow Gilera was also stolen from a rear garden in King George Road between 11pm on September 8 and 5am the following day.
The third was a red Suzuki taken from a front garden on Cobham Road at 1am on September 9.
Police are warning motorbike and scooter owners in Ware and Hertford to be on their guard.
A police spokesperson said: ‘If possible, please keep your bike hidden from view, but don’t assume that because it is in your rear garden, it’s safe.’
Police tips on protecting your bike are:
- Always use an immobiliser or alarm
- Ensure you use a high quality lock and chain
- If you have to leave it out on the road, cover it or lock it to a secure object
- Ensure your bike is security marked
If you have any information about the thefts, ring the police on 0845 33 00 222.”
