WHAS11.com | News for Louisville, Kentucky | Consumer Watch: “You are seeing a lot more scooters on the road today. What do the consumers who own them say and how much will they save on gas? We checked it out.

“The gas mileage is absolutely incredible,” said one scooter owner we talked to. “About every 90 days, I have to fill it up with 2 to 3 dollars worth of gas”

High gas prices have been very good for one business. Motor scooters are scooting out of show rooms at top speed.

When the gas prices hit, we had people who had been looking for months showed up and bought,” said Vespa dealer Jim Cook. “It really did make a big impact. People said ‘I’m going to commute this way from now on.’””
