CHASSIS

Every aspect of the chassis has been designed to match the power and performance of the 500 cc engine. The proven, highly rigid frame is now coupled with a new fork and improved shock absorbers.

As a result, the Aprilia design team has succeeded in creating a scooter with perfect weight distribution, exceptional riding feel and manoeuvrability plus excellent stability.

The ATLANTIC SPRINT brings you real riding pleasure in keeping with Aprilia traditions. More than just another scooter, the ATLANTIC SPRINT combines guaranteed riding satisfaction with the best aspects of personal mobility.

The high-strength tubular steel frame has a superimposed closed double cradle designed for maximum torsional rigidity and robustness.

This rigid and efficient frame gives the ATLANTIC SPRINT faultless stability even at high speeds.

The front fork with its 35 mm stanchions ensures high precision steering and great suspension thanks to a generous wheel travel of 105 mm.

The engine and transmission assembly, which acts as the rear swingarm, is damped by two gas-filled shock absorbers.

Spring preload is adjustable to 5 positions, to allow you to achieve maximum suspension efficiency for all levels of load and all types of surface.

Wheel travel of 90 mm ensures a smooth ride over even the roughest roads.

Another factor contributing to the ATLANTIC SPRINT’s excellent ride is its 14 inch wheels and WIDE, LOW PROFILE tubeless tyres (120/70 at the front and 140/60 at the rear).

In conjunction with the rigid frame, these wheels and tyres give the ATLANTIC SPRINT excellent stability and intuitive control.

So despite its impressive performance, the ATLANTIC SPRINT is beautifully easy to ride!

And low profile tyres enhance the effect of the suspension in smoothing out rough roads as well as guaranteeing maximum safety during braking.

Brakes, of course, are another of the ATLANTIC SPRINT’s strong points.

Integral braking provides reliable, safe and gradual control over all surfaces.

The ATLANTIC SPRINT features large 260 mm diameter front discs with a triple parallel piston floating caliper and a 220 mm rear disc.

The principle of integral braking is simple.

When you pull on the left hand lever (the rear brake lever) you operate not just the rear bake but one of the three front brake pistons too.

A special valve distributes pressure between the two wheels to maximise effect and make braking easy to control even for novice riders.

Integral braking dramatically reduces stopping distances and gives you a far greater feeling of safety and control than conventional braking systems.

The large capacity engine that powers the Atlantic SPRINT is the same unit that has proved so successful on other Aprilia scooters.

The engine is a modern, liquid cooled, single cylinder four stroke with electronic fuel injection, single overhead cam and four valves.

With a maximum power of 27.5 kW at 6,750 rpm and maximum torque of 42 Nm at 5,500 rpm, performance is easily comparable to that of many multi-cylinder engines.

When combined with the scooter’s low weight, though, these figures mean that the ATLANTIC SPRINT has one of the best power to weight ratios of any scooter on the market.

An advanced fuel injection system delivers low fuel consumption and silky smooth power for maximum comfort and riding pleasure.

A dynamic balancer shaft eliminates engine vibrations.

The engine is also secured to the frame by a double linkage mounted on radial vibration dampers, specially designed and made for the ATLANTIC SPRINT to ensure fabulous riding comfort.

Miserly fuel consumption and a large capacity tank (15 litres) also combine to give the ATLANTIC SPRINT real ‘GT’ autonomy.

The Aprilia ATLANTIC SPRINT is equipped as standard with a catalytic exhaust that ensures compliance with the latest emission control legislation.
