60 MPG SCOOTERS – WCPO.com: “These days it can cost 40, 50, even 60 dollars to fill your car’s tank each week.

So how about a vehicle that cost just 10 bucks to fill up…. for a week’s worth of driving?

——————-

Don’t call these motorcycles: These are the new motor scooters.

They go as fast as a car…But unlike traditional motorcycles, are quiet, soft riding, and sooo easy to get on and off.

‘It’s just a matter of you put your leg through, and sit on them.’

Bob Reiff is a retiree who spends most days on his Suzuki scooter…With enough storage room for groceries…. and a motor that gets 60 miles per gallon!

‘When you see gas 3 dollar a gallon, how does that leave you happy? You bet! My car drinks it, and this just sips it’

A fillup? Just 10 dollars.

10 bucks? Yep. For 200 miles? Yep!’

Of course, this is what most of us think of when he hear ‘scooter.’

It’s a Vespa: The Italian scooter used by movie stars in the 1960′s.

While it didn’t turn me into gregory peck… It sure turns heads, according to salesman Larry Riley….here at Vespa of Cincinnati in Blue Ash.

‘I’m at stoplights, and people will get my attention, ask where did you get it…how fast does it go…what kind of mileage do you get?’

He says a woman in a big SUV couldn’t believe how little he paid for gas!

‘I watched her put 60 dollars into her Navigator…I said I’ll be riding all week for 6 dollars.’

Two last points: These scooters cost from 2 to 7 thousand dollars, and you will need a motorcycle license.

But with todays gas prices, it is no wonder scooters are scooting out of showrooms ….with sales up 25 percent this year.

So dont waste your money.

I’m John Matarese.”

There is no reason we can’t have 1000cc hybrid motorcycles that get 75-mpg and 250cc/400cc hybrid scoots that get 100-mpg.

Maybe the elderly overweight Harley riders and the 19-yo Ninja riders don’t care but everybody else does… especialy European motocycle/scoot commuters. It’s embarasing that my SilverWing scoot only gets 53.5-mpg.
