TownOnline.com – Opinion & Letters: Voogd: Environmentally friendly and fun: “For years, motor scooters have been scorned or laughed at and regarded as a toy or a poor substitute for a motorcycle. Not so in other countries, where often times a motor scooter is the only affordable means of transportation for many people, and a reasonable and rational means of transportation in overcrowded cities. Now, with more and more people making short commutes to work or running errands around town, motor scooters have become a sensible means of transportation by replacing the gas-guzzling waste of short drives in the family car. Until recently, the widespread use of motor scooters as an alternate vehicle in the United States has been slower to catch on than in other Asian and European countries.”

I wouldn’t say they were necessarily more environmentally friendly though. They do save gas! But, I’ve seen my share of Spy-Hunter styled blue smokescreens… and they are _NOT_ environmentlly friendly (as birds fall dead from their trees). Anyway… I’m just happy to see more scooter press.
