Fred Brown, a good friend and organizer of the monthly IDontGiveAShift run is spreading the gospel by holding “The Fun World of Scooters and Mopeds” (featuring special guest ME) informal class at UT. You may not get college credit, but it’s a hellalot funner than that Media Law class you had to take.
Here’s the word:
Beat the high price of gas by getting around Austin on a scooter or moped. Not only will you save on gas, with a scooter or moped you can have a blast riding around town! They are delightful machines, offering not only an affordable mode of transportation, but also a lot of opportunities to have fun just zipping around.
In this fun course, we will take a look at the history of scooters and see how people have been depending on them to get around town for over a century. You will learn important safety tips and suggestions for purchasing your first scooter or moped.
The class will also include a visit to a local dealer to see all the new and old models of the Vespa, Bajaj and even the large Maxi-Scooter capable of safely keeping up with most conventional motorcycles. Federico Brown and Steve Guzman are avid scooter riders, enjoy riding hundreds of miles most warm weekends in the hill country on their Maxi Scooter and are contributors to a scooter and moped blog that delivers latest in moter-scooter news.
