(Sportbikes get the MP3 treatment)
From what I can make out of it, motoblog.it has the scoop on the new IRS1000. No it’s not a new tax collection software, but a tilting 2/1 wheeled sportsbike. Could the MP3 be the beginning of a new trend in motorsports? Not to say it’s the first to come up with idea.
Go check out their website for additional images and heaps of heady self promoting PR talk. From what I’ve seen of the website, it looks like they’ve spent more of their budget on engineering the product than engineering the webpages. I’m ok with that.

They sure do promise quite a bit, like performance a normal bike couldn’t match “even with the glue under its tires.” I should be making with the glue under my tires.
I must say I’m a bit excited about the possibility of “unique and revolutionary feelings of drive,” of riding “without ever having the least impression that situation is out of control.” Not that a tilting three wheeler is inherently THAT much safer than a two, but you FEEL safer. It’s why suburban women drive 5000 pound SUVs.
I think it would still be a good idea “to plan always the turns to the best,” despite what they say. Of course if you open your mouth at speed the IRS1000 can help in “recovering those inevitable dribbles.”

That is a pretty freaky rig. And the translation is a hoot.
I love that air compressor grafted onto the left side. I’m guessing it is there for power assist? It must be odd to have two engine sounds, the cycle engine and that compressor chugging away.

For the record, the links for FIRST TO COME UP WITH THE IDEA all click through to three wheeled cars, not cycles.
There are plenty of Three wheeled bikes out there Steve, namely the Aprilia Los Angeles… which no one in the… er.. SCOOP… business has studied to see the connection between it and the MP3.

Sorry Anon… not all of them click through to cars. Most but not all. I was illustrating how far back the 2/1 wheel configuration goes.
There are NOT plenty of 2/1 bikes out there. There was the Italjet Scooop which never made it into production. There WAS the Aprilia Los Angeles which was just a 2000 prototype that eventually became the MP3 (Aprilia is owned by Piaggio).
Who hasn’t studied?
