While the Suzuki Burgman is no slouch in the here, it practically owns the highways in Europe, especially the ones with the smaller displacement (not available in the USA).
Their 2007 edition guarantees that this will continue to be the case with some really important changes including compliance with the very strict Euro 3 environmental standards.
According to the article embedded in the title link, these smaller Burg’s are produced in Spain. Interesting to know. Another interesting thing is that the 125cc version is planned to make its way through a majority of Europe, but the 200cc version is only planned for Italy and Spain (not France). I wonder why.
Anyway, they seemed impressed with it and from what I’ve seen so far in photos and video. I’m impressed. I originally found the photos at motorcycle-journal.com, where the American subscribers are too manly for scooters. One guy from NY who actually says:
Wow..that’s nice.Does it come with a matching purse? Perhaps a lovely brouch to hide the key in?
How any self respecting man can ride one of these things is beyond me.
I know when my real bike was getting serviced, I had to use the wife’s Honda Scooter to get to work…I kinda felt like I was wearing ladies underwear…on the outside of my clothes.
No one said anything…but man I sure felt like they were going to.
Well… I’m sorry that your masculinity is so fragile that a simple scooter ride might shatter it into a billion glittery, rainbow shards. I hope, for testosterones sake, that your real bike never has to get serviced again.
Back to business. I’m gonna go see what’s new for the USA from Suzuki. Any Burg fans wanna give us a head start?
PS> Oh and you can find some of their other smaller displacement scoots here.

:D I loved that comment about manliness and bikes.
It reminded me of how we guys usually hold our women’s handbags (if we have to); with two fingers and arm stretched out from the body.
I think it’s OK that men are a little sensitive about their manly image. You’ve got to draw the line somewhere. I find scooters and even Segways cool but I would never wear a dress or a pearl necklace, even for fun.

Its kinda funny but the guys who make these sort of negative comments are the very ones who get caught importuning in public toilets normally witha blokes appendage in their gob!

I bet that he is scared to wear pink shirts in public as well. Guys like that are teh funni.
Do you remember the sheriff in “To Wong Foo”? I would be willing to bet that is what this cat is like, looking to held by manly hands…..

I’m sorry, is it more `manly` to ride the t*ts off a small scooter, or to pussy about on a 160mph sports bike in one piece leathers, matching kneesliders, Custom-painted lid and chicken strips, never exceeding the speed limit?
And don’t get me started on Hardley-Ablesons and the homoerotic necessities of big cruiser ownership…

“I’m sorry that your masculinity is so fragile that a simple scooter ride might shatter it into a billion glittery, rainbow shards.”
I plan to use that next time I hear someone make disparaging remarks about scooters being less than masculine.
Ironically, he took his bike in for service. A truly manly man would have done it himself. This guy doesn’t have much of a leg to stand upon.

Haha! Thomas. You crack me up. I’ll even do a pearl necklace… Maybe a kilt. But not both at the same time. ;P
Anon 1… yeeouch! that’s a bit harsh in a UK kinda way.
David. Haven’t seen the movie. I have, however, worn a pink shirt in public. Back in the late 80′s pink and white was the $#!+.
Anon 2…
Chicken strips? Hrm… I gotta get out more often. I’d hate to join in on a biking conversation and say something like “Chicken Strips? Yeah! My fave is Honey Mustard!”

Oh and Bryce…
I would be honored.
I’d like to see a manly man not curl his toes in fright at the thought of riding a scooter like Daniel in the intro to Taxi (the 1998 French movie).
Even this guy trickin’ on the Ciao is manlier than most:

Well, f’cryin’ out loud! Haven’t they seen my pics on my blog??? I attend all the Harley functions around here and am waved to by all the “manly” riders. I’m on two wheels just like them and with probably more passion than any of ‘em! Aw well, maybe we former Marines with lifetime memberships to the International TaeKwonDo Federation are just a buncha sissies….

Man, Oh man bikers are such ignorant insecure dumbSh_ _s. If you need a bike to make you feel like a man, not only are you a sorry excuse for a man but a sorry excuse for a human being as well.

Hey Keys! I know not all bikers are represented by that comment… at least when they are around brick breaking Marines. ;)
And Pete! I also know that there’s no shame in your game when it comes to scooters. I think that’s a very important part of building scooter acceptance in the USA. Just being damn proud of riding your scoot.
Ivano. I can tell you love the Burgman. I went to the Italian Burg site and saw over 1.6 million hits. Lots of love for the Burg over there, that’s for sure. Oh and thanks for paying us a visit!

“Haha! Thomas. You crack me up. I’ll even do a pearl necklace… Maybe a kilt. But not both at the same time. ;P”
Actually I equate kilts and scooters on the same level of manliness. Takes a real confident man to sport either. Self-assured and not giving a flip what others think.
Without giving offense to the serious old skool bikers (I grew up around a bunch of them, and know better), the guys I wonder about are the serious Village People Leather Drags…
Not that there’s anything wrong with that either…
