Woah! Stop the press! Sure, a tilting 3-wheeler is nothing new from a design standpoint, a full-production tilting 3-wheeled scooter IS… BUT, before Piaggio went all out they had to develop some prototypes and THIS baby is more than 20 years old!
Check out the 1984 Vespa PK3 Prototype!
No, it’s not a photoshopping, it’s the real deal. Some have commented that THIS is the way they should have gone… the aesthetics of the good ol’ P, with what I would call the kookyness of an 80′s Honda Stream.
Here you see the rough welds of an early ancestor of the MP3. If you’d like to keep an eye on what others are saying, check out the Italian VespaOnline.com or Motoclub-Tingavert.it

I’ve seen that top picture somewhere before (woulda thought it was here…) but hadn’t seen the others, or found that much info on it.
That is pretty cool!

Those were developed by Dr. Trautwein. They weren’t officially Vespa prototypes. He also did one made from a PX.

Sweet! I know a local veterinarian named Trautwein. I’ll have to ask if he’s related. Maybe it was bequeathed to him and it’s sitting in his garage somewhere.
A GUY CAN DREAM, CAN’T HE?!

Hey, if it was bequeathed to your vet friend, I’d like the PX version. You know, as a finders fee, or something like that.
