Well… I say that now, but I’m sure it adds to the aerodynamics of the thing (perhaps a vehicle’s personality is inversely proportional to it’s aerodynamics). From what I gather in the Google Translation, there is an Eco-show going on in Turin and the Hysyrider hopes to make an impact there with its zero emission, zero noise engineering. Topping out at 12.4 MPH (humans top at at around 15 mph, running), riding this to work would definitely be scenic, if not downright frustrating.
I think they are going about this whole hydrogen thing wrong. Why use it to create electricity to drive a motor? Just use the explosive energy of hydrogen to rocket that sucker down the highway! 12.4 MPH would be the speed of your helmet as it pops off yer head.

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are becoming a bit more prevalent because all of the oil giants have invested in it as an alternative fuel source. Even though it’s ridiculously inefficient for producing electricity. Not to mention that hydrogen molecules are so freakin’ small that they permeate through nearly any seal or valve, which makes transporting and containing hydrogen a huge problem. Despite all the technical hurdles (40+ years in development), the oil companies dont want to be left behind when electric vehicles EVENTUALLY replace the internal combustion engine. They want to keep making fortunes on horribly inefficient transportation solutions.

Fuel cells do not scale down to scooter size very well. For the same size, weight, and cost you could stuff that sucker full of lithium batteries and have a much simpler power source that fuels from any electrical outlet.
The only hydrogen-fueled vehicle I want to ride is the Space Shuttle. VROOOOOOOM!

Exactly! Batteries are better. The oil companies just dont want you to plug into a wall outlet for electricity. They want you to come and buy hydrogen from them.
Oh, and the shuttle program marked the start of hydrogen fuel cells for producing electricity. They help power all of the electronics onboard.

Too bad Lith batteries are getting a bad name lately with the overheating issue. Companies are afraid to put them in their vehicles.
Everyone remembers the Laptop Fires of 2006. That, coupled with the PS3 launch has put Sony’s arse in a sling. (I still love their cameras though).

That is too bad because they are really good batteries.
Lithium polymer batteries take care of the flammability issues. They can also be made to fit any shape.
Bad part is they are a bit more expensive. :(
