Here’s a snippet from Edmunds’ 2007 Geneva coverage offering both good and bad news on the hotly tuned SMART 4/2 Brabus edition. I’ll give a hint of the bad news to my American readers… it’s what Wayne and Garth chant when they visit Madonna.

Paris Motorcycle Show [Sep 28-Oct 7. 2007]. Honda usually shows new bikes and concept bikes at the Tokyo show but has in the past has unveiled new bikes intended for the European market at the Paris show. Polaris displayed the Revolver concept at a recent Paris show so there is a slight chance they might display the rumored 800cc automatic in production form at this show. Reportedly, the PiaggioCo brands will not attend the Paris show.
Intermot – Cologne, Germany [Oct 8-12, 2007]. If the rumored BMW maxi-scooter is a reality for 2008 it will likely be displayed at this show. While this rumor has been around for years, the most recent incarnation comes from Ian Kerr’s Euro Gossip column of Sept 2006; “Also emanating from informed German sources within the factory, are rumors of a big scooter complete with automatic gearbox.”
Tokyo Motor Show – Chiba City, Japan [Oct 26-Nov 11, 2007]. The Japanese manufacturers usually display the new 2008 bikes and concepts bikes at this show. The technical innovation to watch for is the new HFT hydraulic-mechanical trasmission which is far superior to a traditional belt-pulley CVT. Let’s hope they don’t reserve this excellent transmission for motorcycles and the biggest monster-scooters.
EICMA – Milan, Italy [Nov 6-11, 2007]. PiaggioCo displays the new bikes: Vespa, Piaggio, Aprilia & Scarabeo, Moto Guzzi, Derbi, and Laverda. Since the Aprilia 850 Mana isn’t in dealer showrooms yet and the GP800 scooter hasn’t been officially launched; I’m unsure whether there will be any new bikes from PiaggioCo this year.

Things I would like to see PiaggioCo offer:
* The 833/auto in a 3-wheeler (ala Fuoco)
* The 833/auto in a small Guzzi (ala Nevada).
* The 500 engine in a naked scooter (ala Dragster) with the the engine moved forward and bolted to the frame and using the transmission and final chain drive of the Mana.
