WFSA has been following this story very closely. We do not yet have an arsonist, but State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk vows to find the culprit “if it’s the last thing I DOOOOOOOOOOOO!”. Er… ok, he didn’t say that, but he’s a sharp cookie and he on the case as we speak.
Here’s a slice from the WFSA story that features a quote from a puzzled Robert Belmont – VP of Sales.
It’s hard to get a read on how Carter Brothers officials feel about the arson ruling by the state fire marshal, but Vice President of Sales Robert Belmont gave us a clue when he talked with WSFA 12 News on the morning of the fire a little more than a week ago.
At the time Belmont said he would be stunned if this turned out to be arson.
“I just don’t see that because everybody was excited about the new product coming out,” Belmont said on July 12.
No crazed arsonist or jealous competitor would deliver such a buzz kill when even he/she was excited about the new product coming out. Let’s hope they catch the felon quickly so Carter and SYM can get back to business. I know some shops that are chompin’ at the bit to get some repair parts.
