News

Here’s the first review I’ve seen on this little baby. Not bad, a seven outta ten.
Some of the good things were:
-Audio quality was clear and very loud. Even with loud engine and wind noise, we could hear our callers plainly.

-Callers could hear us clearly.

-Battery life is solid with 6 days of standby time and about 7 hours of talk time.

To sum it up:
“The Scala Rider is nonetheless a satisfactory first try at a convenient and innovative cell phone solution for motorcyclists.”

With the biggest complaint being:
“After long periods, it began to rub against our ear until it was quite painful. The same was true for the microphone. If we didn’t put it close enough to our mouth, no one could hear us, but if we put it too close, it was uncomfortable as well.”

    SORRY, THIS IS OFF TOPIC….

    I love rumours and scoops:

FACT: The Honda CEO promised that the DN-01 will go into production and to “watch for it” [I read that it will be available within two years].

RUMOUR: The Suzuki G-Strider, which was presented in 2002 as concept only, gets mention in a newsletter [PDF] for girlsonthemove.com.au published in June of 2005. The newsletter stated, “It is also rumoured that Suzuki’s concept scooter, the G-Strider may soon enter production which should satisfy the scooter enthusiast among us.”

Is is possible that the G-Strider concept has been dusted off and will go into production to compete with the DN-01? Surely, while us outsiders were unaware that Honda was developing the DN-01, the Suzuki people must have known what Honda had up it’s sleeve. Of course, at this point, we know that the DN-01 will be a reality but the G-Strider is still a rumour.

MORE RUMOURS: “While on the BMW theme, the rumour mill is wild about the prospect of an 850 scooter.”

mMMMMmmmmm Geeee-Strider (said like Homer says “Donuts” or “Beer”).

    That’s a pretty wishful… yet sweet, prediction.

I like the look of the Honda. I’ll say this about the G-Strider though… acutally both of them. I’d have to give them a test drive. The Strider especially, with it’s unique seating configuration. I think after :30 minutes you’d either love it, or hate it.

    I’m hope for “love it”.

I’ve ridden a 1100cc cruiser and hated it. I live in the city and cruisers belong on some open road in Montana.

MORE CONFUSION: The Griffon appears to be dead and instead the DN-01 Discovery Cruiser automatic motorcycle is going into production. However, I continue to read motorcycle columnists [as late as August 2005] anouncing that the Griffon will soon be in showrooms. I wonder whether they are simply reading old articles and regurgitating outdated information or if they actualy have insider information.

By the way, the DN-01 has a wheelbase of 63.18-inches compared to a SilverWing/Burg650 of 62.8-inches or a Honda Shadow “cruiser” aat 64.5-inches.

    By the way….

I still consider the Griffon a scooter and so will ‘real’ motorcyclists. What is whack is that motorcycle colmnists seem confused about the DN-01 and G-Strider ["Is it a scooter?"] for no reason other than it being an automatic and feet-forward.

I find it doubtfull that these guys would assert that the FJR1300-clutchless or Stratosphere concept were scooters.
