EV World: The World of Electric, Plug-in Hybrid, Fuel Cell and Alternative Fuel Vehicles: “we found him unloading two Vectrix prototype maxi-scooters and a third concept vehicle which had 3 wheels, (two in front and one in the rear). Jim explained that one of the Vectrixes (or is that Vectri?) we were looking at had been the company’s demo for the past two years. The second newer Vectrix featured the latest refinements and improvements most likely to be included on the first run of 50 production models scheduled for sometime in 2006 (July?).

It is a natural thing to want to make some early comparisons with other similar looking and equally large gas-powered scooters, i.e., Piaggio’s X9. Jim pointed out although they might look very similar in appearance, there the comparison must end; for the Vectrix can outperform its fossil fueled competition on most points, and that, without dispute.”

Top Speed = 62MPH
Charge time = 2.5 Hrs
Distance per charge = 68 miles at 24mph speeds 37 miles at 44 mph speeds
Price = Priceless… er.. um $8000 US

I’m good with it, but they gotta do something about that battery. I need to cruise on a cruiser. At least 3 Hours at top speed. Number Two! Make it so!

    Regarding comparisons to an X9 – no, one should not compare the two. I’ve ridden an X9 at over 100 mph and can tell you right now that I’m pretty sure it will go that speed for longer than 30 minutes or whatever that range would translate to. Yes, this is a nice looking bike, but until the technology catches up, no way that it ‘outperforms’ it’s fossil-fueled competition on ‘most points.’
