Estate refers to a communal style of living common in Hong Kong from the 60s to the 80s. Eric So’s collection depicts the colorful cast of characters that typically occupied one of these joints. Sam Lee and his electric-blue Vespa are the center piece of the set. Now a superstar actor in Hong Kong, Sam Lee spent his youth in Estate; he was first cast in in the 1997 film, Made in Hong Kong by film director Fruit Chan who discovered him skateboarding near a housing complex.”
