Chances for MadAss? Slim to none.

Spoke with Dan from 1977Mopeds.com and he said:

“I have given up hope on the MadAss. My distributor keeps promising them, but they I never see them.”

If anyone could get a MadAss into the USA legally, it would prolly be Dan. I suppose if you knew someone in Europe, you could have them take the engine out and send you two shipments… one of the frame, which looks kinda like a mountain bike and one with the engine… But, I still don’t imagine it would pass any emissions tests.

You are obviously obsessed – I think the onliest cure for you is to get one, for sure!! That’s also the only way the rest of us are going to get closure! Hope you can work out a way… it would be interesting to read your hands on experience on this.

hehe… Me? Obsessed? No no… Not me. My doctor says the drugs and treatments have made me a new man! There’s no way I could be obsessing over anything. I mean I could stop talking about the MadAss anytime I wanted! I could stop Right NOW! As a matter of fact, I think I’m gonna see if I have any more vacation time… Sell my baby’s crib (he doesn’t use it anyway), buy a ticket to Germany, and find a way to smuggle one back into the USA… JUST to show you that I could stop talking about it whenever I wanted. You’d never hear another mention of the MA. SEE! I didn’t even say it!

*steve’s wife has called his doctor. he should be ok again in a few hours.*

I love the “MadAss 500″ – I would buy one – but isn’t it a concept-only design? [I really wish Honda would make the Griffon concept scoot.]

On a related note, I wish the Piaggio 850cc V2 ‘naked’ automatic-tranny motorcycle would come to the US for 2006.

I have friends and family in Europe. Obviously, getting it registered is your own problem, but if you’re really serious….I could contact a few people for you.

I plan to take a look, if the store actually exists, of the MadAss knockoff, as it not too far from where I live. I looked as closely at the photos as I could, and other than the wheels and fork tubes, it looks to be a reasonably accurate rendition. If I actually do se it, I can take photos for posting if that will provide a short term fix for the collective obsession.

That would be great Rick-Man! I’d like to take a closer look too. Not that I was looking… because I’m not obsessed… but I also noticed the headlights were not as cool.

I’m not sure if the MA500 is in production. Details are slim. I think it looks pretty seckzy tho.

Freebird. I did hear about that big Piaggio automatic… There’s also an automatic coming from Honda and BMW. I haven’t decided to what degree I would cover these because they are not quite scooters but they are an evolution for the motorcycle. I’ll prolly do a little blurb on them as the details arise.

And Bryce. You called my bluff. I appreciate the offer, but the yearly budget for The Scooter Scoop has been capped for ’05. We’ll see what we’ve got in ’06… We do have big plans for TSS in ’06. No details, but it will… um… engage more of the senses. I’ll have updates on this in May ’06.

Tomberlin sells them in the states. Tomberlin.net. I’ve seen them around Seattle, so I know there are at least a couple in the US.
