Importing Helmets… Opinions? Ideas?

I’ve currently got an Icon full face helmet. I like it a lot, but that doesn’t stop me from yearning for that which I cannot have. A Momo… Italian helmet design at its funkiest (as seen here). Now, I’m not worried about safety or law breaking or anything like that because FIRST of all, wouldn’t Europeans design helmets to protect people’s heads too? And SECONDLY, in many states, you don’t have to wear a helmet or you can get away with wearing a brain bucket. So, those two items aside… how feasible would it be to import a crate of helmets over from Europe to be sold on eBay? I’m looking at the following factors… Product Price, Time, Crate/Freight charges, Facilitator Cost/Reliability, and ability to sell them at a resonable price (on eBay for instance) without legal repercussions.

Anyone have any experience / interest with doing something like this? Do you have opinions or ideas? I’d love to hear ‘em in the Comments section

(PS> If you have problem with the Comments functionality, please lemme know via email. I’ll post your comment for you and continue to try to trouble shoot the comment word-verification problem if it still exists.)

Your issue is people might not be willing to put out the cash for a non dot approved helmet. Shipping them won’t be too bad…make your life easier and use a global carrier to do the paperwork such as APL or search around for “freight forwarders.”

Awesome, beautiful, in only the way the Italians could execute. So, let’s see; We’re mad for the MadAss, and fluey about Momo helmets. We might need our own shipping container. When I was following forums about Russian sidecar rigs, there’s folks who import older, used stuff. We need some slightly breathed on Maddies and Momo’s !

Good point! Last time I checked I didn’t see them at ALL on ebay… well, maybe ebay Italy.

The deal with the few that are listed now is that they are in the UK and they only ship in the UK. I’m trying to find a way for people to get them in the USA.

Well it would be cool if they did sell here in the US, but then you’d have to pay the shippinng to ge t ‘em over here and not me so it’s all good. Cheaper prices on these cool helmets would be great.
