‘Honda has the best bikes in the market,’ Youngblood said. ‘The Rune was designed strictly for the American market, and every decision on it was made to reflect a streamlined, sophisticated style. The Suzuki one was designed for people in need of a fast, yet more `family-friendly’ model.’
Youngblood said one of the most distinct styles on display is a small bike that stands out from the pack despite its size.
‘The Honda Cub is definitely an important staple of motorcycle history, even if it’s quite smaller than others,’ he said. ‘It was created in the 1950s and had a great cultural impact, because it became a definitive example to follow for future Honda bikes.’
Another popular bike in the show is the 1930s Salsbury, a trendy bike that became a stylish statement of its time.
‘It became popular amongst celebrities, so people started buying it by the masses,’ said Youngblood. ‘It’s just like today, when a famous person scoops up a bike, people are sure to want to purchase one like it. Motorcycles set trends. It also introduced an auto-transmission still used right up to today.’
