It is a good idea, problem is Piaggio/Vespa need to bring their prices down a bit or offer some special purchase incentives.

would be nice, eh?
Can someone scan the ad from the NY Times and send it over? I’d like to post it here and I’m on the road.

EXCERPT: “Everyday in this country, millions of individuals drive their cars in locations and situations where motor scooters would be perfectly appropriate and convenient.”
Wrong. Riding a scooter in America is like walking in the suburbs (no sidewalks anymore). I have a fifteen mile commute and there is no way to get where I’m going without traveling on the highway. If Piaggio wants Americans to ‘scoot’ to work they better start making highway-capable auto-tranny motorcycles.

I agree with motocrossed. Vespas are WAY over priced and not great for the highway. For inner city use I guess they’re fine, tho not my cup of tea.

Simple…buy a used Suzuki Burgman 400 or 650 scooter. They eat up the highway miles. You get close to 60 MPG and can cruise 90 MPH all day.
