Open Letter to U.S. Mayors Raises Awareness of Energy Self-Sufficiency and Alternative Two-Wheel Transportation

NEW YORK, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ — Piaggio Group Americas, the manufacturer of the world-famous Vespa scooter, today announced that it has placed a full-page ad in the February 21st edition of the New York Times.     It is a good idea, problem is Piaggio/Vespa need to bring their prices down a bit or offer some special purchase incentives.

    Wrong. Riding a scooter in America is like walking in the suburbs (no sidewalks anymore). I have a fifteen mile commute and there is no way to get where I’m going without traveling on the highway. If Piaggio wants Americans to ‘scoot’ to work they better start making highway-capable auto-tranny motorcycles.

    I agree with motocrossed. Vespas are WAY over priced and not great for the highway. For inner city use I guess they’re fine, tho not my cup of tea.

    Simple…buy a used Suzuki Burgman 400 or 650 scooter. They eat up the highway miles. You get close to 60 MPG and can cruise 90 MPH all day.
