Know any Power Rangers?

(Go go get my scooter!)

You know you’ve seem them… HECK! You might even be one! You ever park in front of a grocery store and have a little kid point at you and say “Mama! Look! A Power Ranger!”? Then you’ve probably got one of those nice, matching helmet, jacket, pants, boots sets.

I’ve got a friend who was recently asking me for riding gear advice. I was telling him that since he was a new rider, he should really consider something bright and not something stealthy like a Tie Fighter Pilot outfit. I went on to tell him that choosing your gear is completely personal, but he should consider a full-face helmet, gloves and jacket at a minimum.

I wear Icon. Many people wear Joe Rocket, lots of others wear what they have in their closet. Some people get a new scooter and they go all out. They buy “the best”. They look sleek and modern and stylish in their official riding uniform… and most people who buy the matching power-ensemble don’t even realize how powerful it is until a kid call’s them out.

If you are a Power Ranger or you’ve seen one in your 2 wheeled adventures, snap a picture! We’d love to include it in our new Rider Style section of TheScooterScoop.com. If you’re NOT a Power Ranger, but are proud of yer ‘get-up’, send pictures so we can present you to the world!

Front to back…
“Hey! Nice! What is that? Joe Rocket?”
“No darling, it’s FirstGear… bought it online.”
“That bitch KNOWS my pink gear is much cuter than her yellow. Why isn’t he talking to me?”

I’m gonna have to disagree with the stealthy thing. All of my riding gear was in basic black. Two weeks ago, someone hit me. They said they never saw me until they knocked me over changing lanes.

My new riding gear will be very red and very shiny.

    Glad you’re ok!

That’s why I was saying “consider something bright and NOT something stealthy like a Tie Fighter Pilot outfit.”

Black looks stylish, but then you’re like a shadow on the road.

I also like the Icon Mil Spec vest. I wear mine all the time… Hrm.. all this Icon promotion and not a dollar from Icon… I need to give them a call.

Sorry, I misread the post. I didn’t catch the “not” in the middle of the sentence.

I’m healing up pretty nicely. I was on the sport-bike when it happened (yes, I ride those too.), and hit the pavement at about 40.

Now I just need to get my bike back. The Honda dealership will hopefully have it rebuilt by next month.

I read all the time on the motorcycle sites where guys on brightly-colored sportbikes wearing brightly-colored clothes and multi-colored helmets get hit by a cage… and invariably the driver say “I didn’t see you.”

Anyway, we need a ride review (possibly translated from the Italian) of the New Scarabeo 500.

I hear ya Dudel! I dig the Scarabeo, even though I don’t give her a lot of attention here on The Scoop. I’m gonna call Jay tomorrow and see if/when the 500 will arrive at his shop. THIS is one test drive I don’t want to be left out of.

Oh and… it is true that looking like a neon sign is no substitue for extreme defensive driving.

Well I’m in trouble, blue and gray helemt which could easily blend into the background, black jacket and black bike (Sachs Madass). All we can do is ride defensively.

How are you liking your MadAss? Have you done any mods to it?

Its currently stock, in the process of running it in which is a bit hard to do with an Aussie winter starting up. One thing I intend to do is remove the rev limiter for that extra top end speed. Your review on it was one of the deciding factors in buying one so thanks for that!

I enjoy riding it and its comfortable which is the most important thing, its one of the few 50cc scooters/mopeds available in Australia where the handlebars don’t hit my knees in a tight turn :) .

The Aerostich hi-viz page is always an eye-opener, but I think I’ll need a few near-misses before I go that far.

    AHHHH! MY RETINAS!

If you get that whole set up we’ll be able to see you on Google Earth.

I’d say if you ride in a town unfriendly to 2-wheelers… it’s probably a good investment.

That Aerostich wear sure is bright, reminds me of my work uniform.
