Kymco People versus People S

This is strictly a quick-glance, atheistic comparison between the Kymco People 250 (left or top) and the People S 250 (right or bottom). You could sum up the new “S” with one word… “Angular”. Not that “angular” is bad. In my opinion it’s a huge improvement over the old People. I was never a fan of the “Arvin art deco, space heater” grill of the People. In my personal opinion, the old 250 just seemed sorta awkward for some reason… but the NEW “S” 250 looks much less clumsy. If you want to see more details, you could always go to Kymco’s site. No… not the one for the USA audience… www.KymcoUSA.com doesn’t mention the Kymco S 250. You have to go to www.Kymco.it in Italy to get more info. Perhaps because it was Italian designed? You could go to www.Kymco.co.uk in the United Kingdom to get more info on the “S”, but they only have info on the S 125… Nothing on the 250.

How do they decide which country will or won’t display the S 250 on their site? Is it by contract? Is it by which web team is the laziest? I don’t know, but at least YOU know the new People S 250 looks like another Kymco winner.

That picture doesn’t even do the People 250 S justice. I saw it in person at Indy, and was impressed. It looks less soft and cuddly, but there is a bit of 80s Honda Elite in there somewhere.

Yeah… the Elite’s been known to sleep-around a bit. I wanna give that “S” a serious test drive (my test drive list is gettin’ damned long). I’m gonna have to ask Al when we’re gonna see this baby in our neck of the woods.

(am I talkin’ like a redneck tonight or what? Musta been something I ate… no more Cracker Barrel after 6pm)

Oh… hehe… On the opposite end of the spectrum. If you liked the People S 250, you’ll get a hearty chuckle from the… GET THIS… Kymco Grand Dink 250. Not only is it stuck with such an unfortunate name, but this thing has been beaten into submission by a crew of ugly-stick wielding bad-asses.

hI’m looking at an S125 or Agility 125 as my next scoot ifn I stay with KYMCo. As to what appears on the site, I’d really love someone to expain that, for 06, KYMCo’s got no 2T wavers, and yet they’re advertising 2T scoots, and the Xciting 500 is shown there, but its been there for years, and is still ‘coming soon’ assuming the government ever lets us have it. With the two scoots I want already promised to the US market, you’d think they’d be being shown by now. Mind you, the KYMCo I want isn’t available in this country, I want a Motiv.

As to the Grand Dink name, its the Grand Vista here, but everyone, even those back home laugh at the Dink name.

Before I settled on the used Reflex I got, I was seriously looking at Kymco scooters. Unfortunately the only dealer in this county is about 40 miles from where I live. The Grand Vista was high on my list, and I liked the People 250′s big wheels.

I’m happy with the Reflex. I got out on the freeway for the first time today. Going 70 was a bit of a rush.

I have done the touchy feely thing on both bikes. Personally I hate the slide off seat, useless windshield and lack of leg room on the new S250. I am searching for an old style People 250.

Ahhh, form replacing function, eh? I’m with ya on the seat. The shield? I’d like to take her on the road to check that.
