I think our chance of seeing this Honda Cub concept come to fruition is about as likely as our chance of getting the CURRENT Honda Cub imported into the USA. I wouldn’t hold my breath for either one. Pretty freaky lookin’, eh?

Yeah, I feel the same way. I wonder if anyone has considered importing them into the USA since Honda won’t.
Hrm… I was looking at this concept and thinking, “Where do your feet go?”.
I like the brown tires though.

Interesting concept, but it looks like it’s mostly a cool looking appearance model.
Other than just to look cool, why would you want a big open circle like that?

Bryce! Why, can’t you SEE? This scoot is PERFECT for… um.. hauling your… beach ball or inner tube. It’s the ultimate beach/river transport!
Looks like the seat folds up too. I suppose, if the wheels could fold in, you could just sorta roll the scooter down the street in case you ran outta gas /hydrogen /biodiesel /electricity /Dark Matter /Solar Energy or whatever it runs on.

The proprietor of the velodrome site is one of the list moderators of the yahoo C70 Passport/Super Cub group. He really knows his stuff and is amazingly helpful and generous with knowledge.
While his velodrome site has some useful information the yahoo group is probably the better place to go for help, especially if you have questions:

My ’83 C70 tops out at about 42 mph. I have to plan my routes pretty carefully to avoid higher speed limts…and head winds. ;^)

I use a 1970 Honda Cub C70M as my daily commuter and love it. It’s a little beat up, but it’s so over-built that it just keeps going without hesitation. I get 45mph, or 50 if I crouch.
They’re also very mechanically simple. I’ve just finished restoring one from an old frame and NOS parts and it was all really straightforward. I was amazed that you can still get nearly all the parts new. I want to give a special shout-out to Beatrice Cycle (http://dratv.com/c70passportnew.html) who have the biggest collection of Cub/Passport parts out there.
As for this new “doughnut frame” concept, I imagine it would be very easy to secure. Don’t have to wonder where to run the chain lock!

By the way, as far as importing the Honda Passport goes, they do show up from time to time. Once in a while someone will order a crate of them from one of the Chinese manufacturers who still make the bikes and will post them on eBay.
In my opinion the Cub or its modernized 125cc Innova/Wave counterpart could do really well in America if it had an automatic transmission. Imagine, a 60-65 mph commuter bike with big wheels and under 100kg!

Hyosung makes a neat ‘cub’ bike; the KR110. 110cc, 4 Speed rotary shift etc..
Neat little bike and supposedly avail in th eUS but danged if I can find one.
