Illegal moped riders caught on CCTV
By Emma Hutchings

Two 16-year-old boys had their mopeds seized by police in Borehamwood after being caught on CCTV carrying two passengers who were not wearing helmets.

The riders and passengers were stopped in Aberford Road at 7pm on September 9, after the council’s CCTV team alerted police to the potentially dangerous situation.

Although the two boys were wearing helmets and had licences and insurance, their pillion passengers did not have helmets, which is illegal.

They will have to pay £123 each to reclaim their bikes -plus a further £12 for every day they are kept in storage.

Helmets are good, but the jury on this Big Brother thing is still out. Sure I’m glad kids on mopeds are safe but I am NO fan of the EYE.

Hi, I heard yesterday that the mp3 was shown on The Today Show Friday and I was told that Piaggio is bringing the 250cc instead of the 125cc into the U.S.A.. Do you know if this is true. I was hoping for the 125cc.

Don’t we have better crap to do with our satellites than track down teenagers not wearing helmets?

    LOL @ Bryce. :o)

Not satellite surveillance, but council run CCTV cameras in the street.
