I like to check out bike movies every now and again, but I’ve had a bad feeling about this one… mostly ’cause I’m not a big Nick Cage fan. Rotten Tomatoes didn’t really dig it with a 28% rating allowing it to be JUST edged out by a character of similar plot… SPAWN… you know, character is indebted to the devil, comes back to kick peoples ass with crazy chains of doom.

One reviewer said:
“For years scientists have theorized that one day Nicolas Cage would overact so badly that his head would burst into flames. Now, with Ghost Rider, the phenomenon has finally come to pass.”

I need to go rent “The World’s Fastest Indian” instead. I heard it’s great for the tuning crowd.

It’s a fabulous flick, Steve. Even your sweet patootie will dig it since it deals more with a man’s passion than a man’s motorcycle.

C’mon, Steve: “The World’s Fastest Vespa!” Don’t they have salt flats down in Austin?

Well there’s a Ghost Town in Texas called “Salt Flat, TX”. Don’t know if any time trials are going on there but one of TSS’s partners in crime, Casey, is supposed to be heading up to Bonneville with his home made scooter “The Flying Jackhammer”.

Ya know… lemme get a look at this Fastest Indian movie and see what it inspires. You never know.

Haven’t seen the flick yet Steve, but just for the record. The Ghost Rider character was before Spawn. But you’re right they are very similar. The Spawn movie sucked big time, so I hope Ghost Rider is just a wee bit better. But it has motorcycles in it, so it must be.

Fastest Indian is one of the best motorcycle movies ever.

After viewing “The World’s Fastest Indian” I immediatly replaced the plastic plug in my airbox with a whittled cork from a brandy bottle.

The Worlds Fastest Indian was really great. We saw it at a benefit for some friends of friends who were going to try to break a landspeed record (160cc class.) It was awesome to see it in a room full of MC and scooter freaks.

I secretly want to see Wild Hogs because it looks so terrible.

I think you’ll dig Ghost Rider. Unlike most movie critics, I go to see movies based on comic books from over 20 years ago assuming they aren’t going to change my life, but just entertain me. This movie is very entertaining and the SFX are amazing.

By all means pick up World’s Fastest Indian. Check out the dvd bonus of “Offerings to the God of speed”. This is the original Burt Munro documentary that Roger Donaldson filmed back in the day.

    Good stuff.

    Have fun,
    Bill

Spawn is a better movie than Ghost Rider, so, it’s not a great movie, but I found it amusing. It’s worth a rent. Now World’s Fastest Indian, thats a great movie!

Wow! This little post ignited a firestorm of responses. I’ll be sure to watch Fastest Indian next weekend (I’m at the Sandblaster Rally THIS weekend).

Then I’ll _consider_ going to see Ghost Rider… but probably won’t actually do it and end up watching it on TBS in a couple of years.

Then I’m gonna go pull the cork outta my brandy bottle and find a place for it in my Vespa… after I’ve finished the brandy of course… and by THEN I’ll be ready to start working on my scoot for a run at the Salt Flats, but will eventually pass out and have to put it back together the next morning.

Then… I’ll watch Spawn again and be pissed off that they didn’t make it rated “R”… ya know? PG just took all the fire out of those evil characters. I’ve got kids on my BLOCK more vile than the devil in that movie.
