Hollywood Holt not just "Throwin’ A Kit" any more. Now recommending movies.

(Hollywood Holt looking for an answer.)

Got an announcement in my MySpace box today from Hollywood Holt of “Throw A Kit” fame. In it he says “It’s imperative that you watch this movie.” And so, I did. It’s called Zeitgeist. I should warn you that if you click on the link that the video that plays does contain some disturbing elements of war at the beginning, so if you are sensitive you should forward to 5 minutes in. The movie is long and unless you can spend 2 hours to watch the whole thing you may miss some of the connections they make.

Here’s what I’ve learned over the course of the last 2 hours… It’s not a before bed movie (It’s 3:30am right now and my mind is racing too much for me to sleep). Don’t watch this is you are a dyed in the wool conservative because it’ll just give you an aneurysm. Don’t watch this video if you are a big Bush fan, cause you’ll turn redder than a hot turnip. Don’t watch this video if you’d rather not have someone ask you to question your religious beliefs (that’s the first :35 minutes of the movie and it seems a bit out of place with the rest of the content).

I try to keep religion and politics out of The Scoop for the most part, with the exception of occasional reference to “the man” and sometimes labeling a post with “OMG!”… So, I’m not going to vent my personal opinions on the subjects in the movie. I prefer to listen to and consider all sides of the story. Today I’d much rather hear what you think. Go ahead, you can post anonymously. I don’t mind… and if you’d rather not watch the movie, that’s great too! Tell us why. Like I said, I just want to collect opinions… I don’t wanna judge or push agendas… just to listen. If you believe it’s a crock-o-shite, say it. If you are scared, say it. We’re all ears. Let us know if Hollywood’s movie recommendation gets the thumbs up, or thumbs down.

It’s a crock, and poorly executed. It does more to flame the fires than trying to extinguish them.

How do you propose we extinguish them? Ignore them?

Only by fanning the flames will the fire be hot enough to get the attention of the American People.

I just hope they do not wake up too late.

I agree that part I had little to do with the rest. The parallels to other ancient religions is well known to most students of theology and all students of comparative religion, although the conclusions are both too broad and too shallow. It would have sufficed to say that religion is commonly used by those in power as a means of social control – duh.

Part II and III are pretty good explications of the “911 truth” and “modern illumninatus” conspiracies. Plenty of BS in there, but a lot of it is right on the money. Even if a good deal is dreck, there is enough truth among the dross to put you on guard – if you weren’t already.

The first part is just basic knowledge for us “godless” types and I tend to agree with blue mark’s post above.

“Working Class Hero” by John Lennon was kind of lingering in my head while watching this.

It’s an interesting kind of situation when the implication at the end is that we must be “one world” to resist a “world government.”
There has never been any shortage of folks willing to “show us the way.”

It’s been said that a terrorist is someone who is willing to give YOUR all for THEIR cause. Yes, there is a percentage of incredulity in the piece, but it should at least remind you of the terrorists we live with everyday.

Ok. Just 5 responses? Hrm, oh well. Let’s see what we got (in an empathetic fashion).

Anon didn’t like it and thought it could be better.

exsleeper is sharing something about Federal Income Tax being unlawful and seems motivated by the video (Hrm… Wonder why Willie Nelson was busted for Tax evasion if it’s unlawful.)

blue mark not finding the first part very fulfilling, yet finding their conclusion to be obvious. Additionally, blue mark finds the second part to be part fiction and part fact, with enough fact included to warrant additional research. (thanks for reviewing it with a fair and balanced eye… even if FOX News has totally ruined that phrase).

doggie daddy agreeing with blue mark on the first part and suggesting a degree of caution when diving into the director’s “cause” also recommending increased awareness of activities in the world around you. (and good fair and balanced review. Thank you.)

americanbornandraised objects completely at anything to do with the piece including any request to review it in order to offer opinions. The viewer also suggests it is the tool of terrorists and that I should be ashamed. (wow! I can see that you are very upset… remember the watching part was completely voluntary.)

So, I hope I captured everyone’s feelings so far. I could probably sit around and discuss this video and people’s opinions for hours, but this is obviously not the forum for that. Thanks to everyone that has participated so far!

    Anyone else have an opinion?
