Scoot_Kitty77, friend and frequent reader of TheScoop has submitted a little article I’d like to post because I’ve got friends at Modern Buddy too. It goes like this [oh, and I'm gonna start interjecting within square brackets now since some people like to use parenthesis when they write]:

My buddies over at Modern Buddy have had a longstanding thread [title link] about scooters and heels.[...] now of course I don’t condone the use of unsafe footwear (heels, flip-flops, crocs, Uggs, etc) [nor does Steve] but as long as they were talking about it, I thought I’d give a few [dangerous] examples that I’ve run across. [I'm sure you meant to put "dangerous" in there, right?]

[The following images illustrate unsafe footwear while on or near a scooter:]

Here is a cute dangerous example of strappy white stilettos on a Honda in Japan. [Thanks to To Tokyo_Scooter_Stuff for the example.]

And here is an Italian pair to die for [no, really] that you shouldn’t wear on your Vespa, unless you are just posing on your small frame, like so. [Thanks for digging in the archives athan.didas!]

If you want to get a good tan without all that yucky sand on your tush, you could just lean back on your ET. [no riding! Only leaning back.]

It is tre fashionable to pose in front of your scooter when an ocean of butterflies floats by. You wouldn’t want to ride through them or else you’d get icky butterfly guts all over your pretty legshields. [Remember to put on clothes before remounting to continue your ride. Dr.Umbo took this shot to educate YOU.]

The only time you can actually ride in heels safely is if you are a cute little cartoon, like this sweetheart. [agreed. Thank you Plexipixel for the schweet illustration!]

Cute Improper headwear, matching handbag and chunkies with a pretty lipstick smile all say “I’m riding dangerously and I’m cute.” [Don’t let this happen to you. Image brought to you by MiMundo.org]

The queen of all the land sits perched on her big wheel. This is VERY sexy dangerous! Especially on cobble stone. All the boys will notice [how unsafe] you [are]. [Yes, dangerous indeed. Shai* took this marvelous photo example of what not to wear while scootering.]

Thanks for that report Scoot_Kitty77! I’m sure you are doing a great service by advising our readers on improper safety gear. We hope you’ll return with more great skin-saving tips!
Oh, and if you HAVE to wear heels while scooting, check out ICON’s Bombshell boots. Functional and fashionable!

Although I am no expert in footwear for the gentler gender, I was recently browsing a print edition of Scoot! quarterly that included many advertisements for scooter-safe clothing, including sturdy rubber-soled shoes with high tops and a bit of heel for the ladies who prefer higher heels.

    Thanks for the tip Rick!

Hehe, Casey. I’m laughing here. I’m sure you meant “by the left grip”. Freudian slips are perfectly acceptable though.
