My homeboy from Normandy, Mike Werner, reports that in Spain the authorities have begun marking special areas in front of traffic lights just for motor bikers. In other words, when the light turns red you would get to scoot around the other cars and roll right up to the front of the line because motorbikes often accelerate faster than their 4 wheeled friends… Unless you’re on a stock Honda Ruckus. :P~ I’m teasing
Thanks for that bit of Info Mike! Click the title link to check out some more photos!

Steve, I like how you qualified that last statement with ‘stock ruckus.’ LOL.

Hi,
The cities (at this momment) are Barcelona and Madrid, and the idea is allow the bikes do the pole from cars.
By the moment the experience is satisfactory.
You can see more photos at my blog http://www.moto22.com tagged as driving http://www.moto22.com/categoria/conduccion sorry but it is everything in Spanish.

Same in the rest of the scooter riding world:

In California you can do this. Here in Texas they call it “lane filtering” and its illegal. In California we just called it riding. Some say its actually safer than waiting at a light with some 2 ton monstrosity set up in front of you like a wall and another one behind yo u waiting for the drivers foot to slide off the brake and turn you and your bike into an accordion.

That’s a great idea.

I love the Honda Ruckus but i don’t like getting runover by faster moving traffic. A 150cc Ruckes that was exactly the same in every other way would be tits.

P.S. What the hell is wrong with Honda?

From my experience in Europe, all of this is rendered less effective by the general method of urban driving…that of racing everyone else to the next block where another red light awaits.

Sanjuro62! Yeah, I’ve got to cover myself. I don’t think anyone would argue with that qualification in place.
Luis! Thanks for the tip. I’ve got a link to the translation here: http://tinyurl.com/54qbou
Anon! I’d love to have a dedicated lane. I like how they are doing it for bicycles in parts of California. The bikes get a lane that is separated from the main traffic lanes by a shoulder of parked cars.
Danny HOOLIGAN! Not a fan of the accordion scooter myself. California is very progressive when it comes to promoting 2-wheel commuting. Other states could learn a lot from them.

Nice translation web, Steve.
It sounds better than other on line services.
Thanks for the tip.
