To PIMP or not to pimp, THAT is the question.

Custom

(just one of MANY ways to pimp your scooter.)

You know… I was just wondering. This question is really for the Touring / Maxi scooter owners. If you had the loot and the US had the parts availability, would you consider customizing / tricking out / pimping your Maxi Scooter (250cc+)? Or, would you just stick with something more understated? There are as many outrageous ways as there are tasteful ways to do it… I just want to know if it’s something YOU would do.

I would love to have more accessories available for the maxi scooters but truthfully I don’t know how carried away I would get with it. More interested in practical needs like heated grips, windscreens, electronics and seats. Though some detailing accessories may catch my eye.

i think its kind of silly. im even embarresed for all the scooter “gangs” who ride all tough in philly with their helmets on backwards and their bitches on the back trying to do wheelies and stuff. it just looks awkward.

Anon! Are you talking about the tuned MBK’s and the like? The tiny 2-stroke 50′s?

    Dan in Milwaukee! Welcome aboard.
I see… better storage and comfort related items more than things like spinners, spoilers, neon, video screens, smoke machines, minibars, etc. I think the aftermarket for scooters has been largely ignored due to the high profit margins of motorbike aftermarket accessories. Those manufacturers will start glancing at scooters now that they are on the rise. If we see 3 solid years of growth in the scooter market, it’ll be a whole new ballgame in the scooter accessory market.

Jim! How’s it hangin’? Embarrassed for the scooter gangs, eh? Well… as long as they aren’t hurtin’ nobody. Have you tried riding with your helmet on backwards? Adds a whole new level of excitement! (jus kiddin’)

I am totally waiting for some leftover cash so I can pick up a used Helix or Majesty to pimp mine out. Already have the most (likely only) pimped (in its own way) Big Ruckus in Austin.

I’d do it for the sake of doing some badass pink paintjob accentuated with a bodykit.
However, I don’t think I’d mess with the insides too much unless it was to make the scooter run (as in work, not up the max speed) better than it could with stock parts. Maybe, just maybe, I’d put in a speaker just so I can annoy the other ricers with my rock music.

I would definately go for a custom seat both for comfort and improved looks. Lets face it the upholstery they put on stock models usually leaves something to be desired. Would I turn my maxi into a disco on two wheels? I’ve got better things to spend my money on…

would I go all out with sppinners, bling, and other useless eye candy? no…I would do a body mod, and change the color of my Morph…so that way its personialized for me…and redo the front top nose panel to combine the windscreen into the body so its one nice flowing piece (the wind screen that comes stock kinda breaks the nice flowing lines of the morph IMO) and have it painted in one of the following colors (the scoot, not the top panels…but the side panels since Id probabibly make the top areas black) iridecent orange, iridesient green (like the one picture has with the Japanese guy sitting on it), or a iridesent red…and I agree with scooters on the rise I think more companies will start makeing after market upgrades in the future…when is another story…but I think it would be awsome…
