Scooter Sales Down Means Good Deals Can Be Found

Scooter

The Kansas City Star is reporting that scooter sales for the first three months of 2009 are down when compared to the same time period last year.

Dealerships with full inventories are usually eager to get some merchandise moved and adjust their prices accordingly. Those lowered prices along with new tax deductions for fuel efficient vehicles (part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) may mean that now is the time to buy that first scooter or upgrade to a newer, bigger, faster, sexier machine.

If you end up shopping for a new ride, be sure to let us know what kind of deals you find.

On Austin Craigslist alone I saw over 200 postings for "scooter". Sure, there was a lot of crap… things like "Red Scooter for sale" or "gas powered motor scooter – REAL FAST!", but there was also a like-new Rattler 110 for $2500 and a nice looking '87 Honda Elite for $900!

Time to cash in on last years panic purchases, eh?

Pity they left out Scooterworld Kansas City, my favorite scooter shop, and frankly the best one in town.

Fortunately, we now have 4 or 5 Vespa dealers, so one can pick the dealer that seems best.

I fear for my local guy. He's making painful noises.

And yeah, I've seen some bargains on craigslist, here, too. Gotdamn joblessness is keeping me from some MAJOR scores.

Welcome, Tim! Awesome idea, youse guys.

Is that an underbone in the photo?

Is there a company that sells an underbone in America now?

    Cuz if so…

    That's cool.

I also like the "Buck Ten" Rattler.
With prices down like the dollar many people are opting to bring old scooters and motorcycles back to life.
