Right here in the good ‘ole US of A, is an illustrator named George Coghill that creates a marvelously polished art piece. Here you see an example of his Vespa inspired artwork. He describes this piece like so:

This scooter hot rod/Odd Rods monster cartoon illustration was created for an Austin, Texas scooter freak and his ‘blog the Scooter Scoop. The client wanted a cartoon illustration of a Mod scooter creature in the style of the “Big Daddy” Roth Odd Rods. we had a lot of fun developing this illustration, right down the the Swiss Army knife and train whistle on the front. You should see the length some of the real scooter fanatics go to to customize their bikes – I kept thinking as I threw more and more on the front that there were too many headlights, and then I’d go back to the reference photos and realize there still wasn’t enough! The literal “foxtail” on the whip antenna was a nice touch of inspiration by the client.

A very collaborative illustration, and the final cartoon came out pretty awesome if I don’t say so myself.

I agree! I’ll have to go check out this “blog” called TheScooterScoop. Sounds interesting! Hehe… I just had to plug this guy. George did an OUTSTANDING job with this guy named “Mod Rod”, who is sorta the unofficial mascot for the site. If you need to hire a talented, easy going, illustrator who takes great direction and offers fabulous creative input… Coghill is your man!

George is currently involved in the revamping of the Odd Rods franchise. He did a great job on their website too!
