BHUBANESWAR, Nov. 25. – To protest in a novel way against violence towards the fair sex, “We Can, Orissa”, a women’s organisation, today organised a scooter rally from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar.
The scooter rally, flagged off from the Chandi temple in Cuttack city and terminated near the Assembly here. The House is currently in session.
The rally was organised on the occasion of the international fortnight to generate awareness towards the growing violence against women.
Calling upon the women folk to break their silence and raise their voices against such inhuman violence, the rallyists expressed concern saying thatwomen face molestation in every 26 minutes, a rape occurs in every 34 minutes, a woman is killed in every 93 minutes and a kidnap takes place in every 43 minutes. The rally is to support every tortured woman.
