NYC’s own Brouhaha snapped this example of green scootin’. Kind of nice touch really.

Not sure if it does much to absorb the blue smoke from this lammy, or that it would live longer than a day of hard riding… but it looks soothing for the time being.

BMW Touring Scooter – ON AGAIN?

ON – Several years ago a rumour was floating around that BMW would release a Luxury Touring scooter (possibly with Piaggio’s 850 V-Twin engine).

OFF – Then, someone claiming to be in-the-know stated that BMW R&D built the beast and it was ready to go to production but upper management decided against it as they didn’t want to be in the scooter business for image reasons.

ON AGAIN – Now, claims of a big BMW scooter are again surfacing. Motorcycle-USA’s monthly “Euro Gossip” column asserts, “Also emanating from informed German sources within the factory, are rumors of a big scooter complete with automatic gearbox. The machine could bridge the bike/scooter gap, although the whole thing seems strange given that the C1 failed to catch on, despite its unique selling points.”

    Ahhh! Juicy!

I really loved the C1. It was nerdy, but perfect in so many ways. BMW, Please bring it back with a 400cc motor. I’ll start saving my money now!

SCOOP you can take to the bank:

Honda is building a 750 Flat-four engine mated to an automatic transmission for a new scooter.

Sound familiar? That’s the engine featured in the Elysium and Griffon concepts. That’s as much information as I can get as my source is under an NDA; but the engine is confirmed. However, I’m not very positive about Honda’s commitment to bring any of these new scooters to the USA.

Nice! I dug both of those scoots. The Elysium, a Japanese rendition of the C1 without all the safety features, reminded me of a cicada bug and the Griffon was just cool futuristic lookin’ with all it’s polished aluminum and flip out passenger backrest.

I welcome both, but expect neither.

Me too. However, the 750 flat-four engine may be used in a more conventional SilverWing-ish scooter. I don’t know. All I could get was confirmation on the engine.
