What would make me eat McDonalds again?

Here we get cheap playgrounds in front of Mickey-D’s, but in Cairo Egypt?  They get delivery Vespas.  I have a sneaking suspicion that they also serve healthier food than our McDonalds.  I worked at McDonalds one summer back in the late 80′s.  If they had these?  I’d probably still be there today… even if a couple of them are a bit ratted (bent leg shield and missing blinker cover).

Just curious, Steve, why would you think Mickey D’s serves healthier food overseas?

Having eaten at the Golden Arches in many places around the world, I can tell you everything is the same, where possible. I’m guessing there are no pork products on the menu in Cairo, just like there’d be no beef in Mumbai. Aside from the usual menu items, in France you can get a Croque Monsieur and the ones in Rome have a ham & cheese panini. But burgers and fries taste the same.

The ones in Germany serve beer!

Nice and in Hawaii you can get Saimin Noodles.

The reason I think it would be better is from this bit I read about McD’s Egypt:
“More than 90 percent of the raw materials used for McDonald’s restaurants in Egypt are sourced locally.

We are proud that all our products adhere to the highest international quality standards. Almost 10,000 Egyptian families work as suppliers and in supporting services for McDonald’s in Egypt”

Of course, this coming from the McD’s own website, but I like that they buy local. Also, they have Halal McDonalds food (kind of like Kosher for Muslims) PLUS they’ve got the McFalafel and the McArabia Kofta! So, who knows really. Partially I assume that since other countries banned things like Transfats way before we did in America, that our food, especially fast food, is generally of lower quality.

Now to go grab a Croque Monsieur!
